AMD releases Fusion Media Explorer beta
April 14, 2009

AMD is a famous processor company, but in application field, they aren’t a big player. So when I heard they release a new Explorer, I’m not really excited. Well, I was wrong. AMD Fusion Media Explorer is actually quite impressive with its 3D technology.
What is Fusion Media Explorer
The AMD Fusion Media Explorer (FME) is a new 3D Immersive Social Media and Digital Media Browser, built and distributed by AMD. In addition to enabling unique multimedia and social media experiences, FME does a great job of showcasing the power of AMD CPUs and GPUs. This application demonstrates what our platforms are capable of when the software is designed to take full advantage.Casey Gotcher – Director, Product Marketing at AMD
You could download it from here: AMD Fusion Media Explorer(BETA) . Note: Vista only.
Its main purpose is “media explorer”, manage media resources in your PC and quick share these data on Social Media Network.
FME integrate with many social media network such as Facebook, Youtube… so you could easily upload and share media file. However, the special is you could drag and drop file in a 3d environment to upload or download directly to or from Youtube. Its main power is about visualize so it’s best to describe by pictures. Check out some screenshot from AMD:
It’s just a toy
Even with impressive visual effects, I can’t seem to find how I could use it everyday. It was fun to play around but it’s much harder to manage files then any other application in the same field. For now, it’s just a tool to demonstrate the power of AMD processor and chipset.
