Dzone Widget: Target visitors and intergrate scroll into your website

I had a lot of traffic from DZone, and sure the higher the vote is, the more traffic you get. And the most important is, you know your articles are useful.
The fact that, people go to your website from DZone is more likely to vote for you then people redirect from say Digg. My friend Dave (freelance web designer) also points out that people with DZone FireFox extension will even more likely to vote regard of you put your DZone Widget in your website. That’s quite easy to understand because the FF extension is much more convenient.
So what we will do
From that information I want to integrate a DZone widget into my website. However, it’s only show up when the visitor come from DZone website. If user isn’t come from DZone website, they could submit my website by Favicon anyways.
Moreover, I also implement so the DZone widget will work like the Firefox extension. Mean, it will slide down when you scroll the page.
Also, in case user don’t like it, I add a close button next to the widget. They could close it anytime.

Integrate to your website
After a while using jQuery, come back to pure Javascript isn’t so comfortable. However, I think a lot of website without jQuery and could be benefit from this, so I try my best to implement it in plain Javascript.
If you have jQuery in your website, I suggest you using the jQuery version which’s easier to customize.
There are many way use the code in your website.
Easiest way: add a reference to this file: DzoneWidget.js or DzoneWidgetjQuery.js (for jQuery)

This way you will have the update when I update the code. However, you can’t customize the code.
A bit more trouble: Download the file back to your host (The same link). Change if necessary. Upload to your host and add referent to that address.

Complicate: Copy the whole code to you website. Tweak and use it as you like.
Customize It
Javascript version is much longer then the jQuery (it has to be). But I try my best so it wouldn’t be any difficult to change the code. Also I leave the comment there so you know what the code does and where to change what.
First thing you could want to change is the position left and opacity of the widget. Which could be found in GenerateWidget (line with the comment //Set the style – line 22). In here you could change all the style attribution of container div. It’s equivalent to line 24 change the CSS for jQuery widget.
You also will find the jQuery version will have the animate when it move and close. You could set that value from line 36:
